Antique Thai Buddhist Manuscript / Samut Khoi Painting on Black Handmade Paper

Description

This is a rustic Antique Thai Buddhist Painting / Drawing (Samut Khoi) on black handmade paper.  This delicate & fragile piece folds like an accordion into three equal panels and shows four Character illustrations.  There is also Thai script wrapped around the sides of the pages.  This item is quite old and I conservatively estimate the piece dates from the latter part of the 1800's. This Samut Khoi was purchased by my father and myself in Bangkok in the early 1980's when he owned an antique shop in Penang, Malaysia.  We admired these paintings / drawings and actively collected them.  Once mounted, matted and framed this Manuscript would show quite nicely.  Please note the detailed Condition Description referenced above.  Please note the Attendant's face in the upper right hand corner has been scratched off.
